Description:

Responsibilities:

  • Lead HSS in the provision of contemporary pharmacy services to inpatients and outpatients through highly reliable, safe, and efficient medication use systems, direct patient care services, collaboration with other healthcare providers, and education of health science school students and other trainees across the continuum of care
  • Develop and monitors short-term and long-term strategic development plans by identifying benchmark goals for Clinical Services and Pharmacy and a clear mechanism for achievement of those goals.
  • Prepare operating and capital budgets and monitors departmental expenditures to assure operations are within budget. Ensure execution of internal controls to provide reasonable assurance that operations are effective and efficient. Work with department heads to develop and implement cost-control plans to improve fiscal operations.
  • Leads all pharmacists and pharmacy staff across the organization and ensures that pharmacists are optimally positioned and resourced to improve the quality, safety, and efficiency of medication management and patient outcomes in the most cost-effective manner.
  • Leads all respiratory therapist to provide direct patient care in addition to managing the operations and staff of the Respiratory Therapy.
  • Oversees the Infusion therapy program for the enterprise.
  • Evaluate medication expenditure patterns and reimbursement trends, including value-based reimbursement and purchasing, while ensuring pharmaceuticals and pharmaceutical benefit designs focus on total health through the formulary, with procurement driven by clinical efficacy.
  • Establish key relationships with both internal multidisciplinary leadership and external vendors, group purchasing organizations, academic institutions, and manufacturers to elevate services and optimize the pharmaceutical supply chain
  • Provide effective leadership, management, direction and administration of operations for multiple departments and clinical areas. Mentors and develops staff and fosters a positive and productive work environment.
  • Oversee and coordinates performance improvement projects and activities. Implements and tracks outcomes of these initiatives. Provides and ensures proper coordination and alignment with goals and objectives of Clinical Chiefs, Service Line Administration, and Hospital Administration.
  • Interface with Physicians and maintains effective communication between medical, nursing and support staff and the Hospital and College Administration. Builds and maintains productive inter/intra departmental relationships to optimize operations.
  • Oversee compliance with government and agency regulations. Establishes tracking systems to ensure Departmental compliance with Hospital and government mandates.
  • Oversees and manages all capital expenditures for the construction and/or alteration of assigned Hospital infrastructure.
  • Performs all duties inherent to managerial role. Participates in hiring, training, evaluation and termination of assigned staff according to Hospital policies and procedures.
  • Performs other special projects and duties as assigned
