Description:

OUR CLIENT IS A PHYSICAL COMMODITY TRADING COMPANY WITH A GLOBAL FOOTPRINT.

They are looking to mould a talent with 70-80% trading experience who has good knowledge of the Thermal Coal industry in Asia to join the Carbons team in Singapore who is responsible for Sales in non-China and Non-India market. Product knowledge and commercial knowledge are prerequisites.
The preferred talent should have experience in a non-asset base trading house in which they were required to find their own leads.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE / TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Comprehensive understanding of product, INCO terms, contract terms, transaction flow, and bulk freight to be able to facilitate a smooth transaction
  • Approximately 5 – 7 years’ experience in Thermal coal industry at least 2 of which should have been in a trading role.
  • Passion for sales and marketing with a proven track record of success.
  • Good technical understanding of the Thermal Coal and related products and markets
  • Logical thinker with strong commercial acumen

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement key trading strategies that are aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Develop the trading plan for Non-China and Non-India business.
  • Develop and manage relationships with key contacts in the industry specifically in South East Asia and South Korea market.
  • Generate new business by developing new client relationships
  • Manage the trading program factoring in strengths and weaknesses of the team. Build, manage and support the team as necessary.
  • Meet with customers to discuss their evolving needs and to assess the quality of our relationships with them
  • Liaise between traffic teams and clients as necessary to ensure smooth transactions
  • Travel where necessary to countries in SEA depending on business needs. Roughly twice a month.
