Description:

Are you a visionary nurse leader committed to the delivery of digital innovation and transformation of services? The NHSE South West regional Digital Team is seeking an experienced Associate Chief Nursing Information Officer to join our dynamic team. As the Associate CNIO, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of healthcare delivery across the region by integrating clinical practice with cutting-edge information systems and data flows.
The regional Digital Team is passionate about supporting our Integrated Care Systems across the South West to delivery transformational change that becomes embedded into routine practice. To ensure innovations are sustained, you will bring a deep understanding of user-centred design and apply this in conjunction with their clinical expertise.
The Associate CNIO will work closely across Digital, Medical, and Nursing teams in the region, providing strategic leadership for nurses and clinical leads from a wide range of health and care providers and health systems, all focused on the delivery of an ambitious digital agenda.

Further details of the role and required skills of the post-holder are in the attached Job Description. In summary, we are looking for a registered nurse and credible clinical leader, with the main duties of the role including:

  • Strategic Leadership: collaborate with Digital, Clinical, and Executive Leads from providers and Integrated Care Systems/Boards to develop and execute the strategic vision for nursing informatics. Develop and lead the CNIO network across the SW region.
  • Programme support: clinical safety and nursing expertise input into regional digital deployment programmes. Role is responsible for ensuring the perspective of users is at the centre of all design and delivery. Includes the coordination of user-centred design initiatives across a range of regional digital programmes.
  • Liaison with national team: ensuring alignment between regional developments and national strategy. Influence of national direction through escalation of regional views based on a deep understanding of users’ issues and opportunities.
  • Digital Team member: actively participating in the regional digital team, championing the nursing voice, clinical safety and user-centred design, with line management responsibilities as required.

Whilst many meetings and engagements may be conducted virtually, the post-holder will be expected to travel to a range of sites across the SW region both in their leadership capacity and as part of the programme support function.
