What to Expect
The Associate Data Engineer, MDS position is located at our Fremont Factory Location. The primary responsibility of this role is to maintain high-quality and efficient manufacturing data systems that will help identify issues and enhance the equipment that builds our cars as part of the Fremont Central Manufacturing Engineering (FCME) team. Business needs may include developing analytics workflows and processes that impact the design of data architecture and software solutions deployed for Robotics, conveyor systems, equipment, and process/equipment monitoring systems. In addition, we will collaborate with the maintenance team to fix and improve equipment failures. The successful candidate will have experience in working with Industrial equipment controls, Machine learning, CICD pipelines, SQL and Python

What You’ll Do

  • Design, develop manufacturing data systems from concept to production
  • Analyze trends in manufacturing equipment key performance indicators
  • Implement cloud-based solutions for Manufacturing Equipment data collection and storage
  • Use Python scripting and SQL to interface equipment with Tesla Manufacturing Execution System (MES) and to collect data into production databases Responsibility for designing, selecting, managing, programming, and commissioning of automation and equipment used to improve the existing system
  • Predict production faults using machine-generated data. Coordinate with cross-functional technical groups to set up alerts and corrective actions
  • Implement and maintain CICD pipelines for data tracking systems, part recognition and problem reporting
  • Optimization and improvement of human machine interfaces, and SCADA systems and MES interfaces
  • In-house development and exploring new technologies and innovations to enhance current Manufacturing equipment and data systems
  • Creation and improvements of equipment safety standards and the implementation of those standards into the manufacturing equipment, including periodic checks and qualification inspections

What You’ll Bring

  • BSc, or B.Eng, or equivalent certification in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent relevant industry experience
  • Familiar with Industrial PC/PLC controller and development environment like Rockwell or Siemens
  • Understanding of databases and various program languages (Java, Python, Oracle, SQL)
  • HMI programming experience – Ignition
  • OPC, MQTT, TCP/IP protocols
  • Exposure to AI and ML
  • Exposure to Developing CI/CD Pipeline
  • Experience with industry standard development and/or automation tools (Bitbucket, JIRA, Jenkins, Git, Docker, Kubernetes, Splunk etc).
  • Develop/build new software tools to save time and cost for the infotainment development and QA organization.
  • Work closely with equipment engineers, maintenance technicians, and controls engineers to ensure, Scada and IIOT features are well tested through automation.

Expected Compensation
$80,000 - $258,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
