Description:

The University of Virginia Office of Undergraduate Admission (OUA) is seeking an Associate Dean for Application Evaluation. Reporting to a Senior Associate Dean, the Associate Dean will develop and implement data-driven strategies designed to support the recruitment and enrollment goals of the Office of Undergraduate Admission (OUA).
The Associate Dean will lead a team whose responsibilities include oversight of the first-year, transfer and international application review process, including staff training, the management of seasonal readers and leadership of the arts and scholar evaluations.
Associate Deans develop working relationships across a broad set of groups and individuals, from students, teachers, and families to alumni, school counselors, student support staff, and members of our high school and college communities. The Office of Admission partners with the Office of Student Financial Services, the University Registrar, and the Virginia College Advising Corps, as a critical member of the University’s Enrollment team. The team’s mission is to: care for students from their first interaction with the University through Final Exercises and beyond; compete for great students from all walks of life who will make each other better; and collaborate joyfully with colleagues to help these students make the most of their gifts and their time at UVA.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s degree.
Experience: At least seven years of experience in admissions or related field or a total of twelve years of experience in lieu of degree.
Candidates must demonstrate the ability to lead independently with confidence and compassion; analyze and solve problems; collaborate with internal and external partners; and communicate effectively.
An understanding of current issues and trends affecting enrollment and higher education, especially at leading public universities and familiarity with CRM systems such as Slate, is preferred.
This position is In-Person located in Charlottesville, VA.
The anticipated start date is July 1, 2024
Anticipated Hiring Range: $65,000-$90,000 commensurate with education and experience.

Responsibilities:

Associate Deans will:

  • Create and implement recruitment and enrollment activities designed to support the mission, values, and enrollment goals of the University and Office of Admission, in partnership with their team’s Senior Associate Dean.
  • Hire, lead, and manage a team of recruitment professionals.
  • Represent the Office of Undergraduate Admission in leadership meetings and on committees around the University.
  • Establish strong relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Participate in recruitment activities on and off Grounds.
  • Evaluate first year and transfer applications for admission.
