Description:

The HEIW Associate Dean for the Medical Associate Professions (MAPs) will have a strategic role in leading HEIW’s work to develop, implement, and embed the MAPs workstreams across NHS Wales. The post holder will provide expert advice, support and strategic input to all stakeholders associated with supporting MAPs. As the public face of the HEIW for this work, the post holder will be required to engage, liaise and maintain good working relationships with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
The role is part time (2 days per week). The working pattern can be agreed with the line manager following successful interview.
Provide expert advice for the Medical Associate Professions across NHS Wales leading the MAPs workstream at a strategic level.
Lead the ongoing development of the Physician Associate (PA) role across Wales including developing educational infrastructure/guidance and support for faculty and working with others to ensure the profession is ready for GMC regulation in 2024 by considering the implications of regulation and what needs to need to be in place including exploring options for annual appraisal and revalidation.
Lead the further expansion of the Anaesthesia Associate (AA) role across NHS Wales including embedding the role in other Health Boards, ensuring the role has the correct educational support and evaluating the impact of the role.
Lead the establishment of the Surgical Care Practitioner (SCP) role across Wales including scoping out the role currently and making recommendations for further expansion of the role.
Lead the development of educational governance and a once for Wales approach to all terms and conditions for MAPs roles in the NHS.
Oversee the continuing monitoring/evaluation and audit of MAPs roles across NHS Wales.
Develop effective working relationships across Wales and the UK with all relevant MAPs stakeholders, including the statutory education bodies, Royal Colleges, GMC and NHS.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
