The Associate Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research Indigenous (ADVCR-I) will provide strategic leadership and expertise regarding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander knowledge and ways of working within the office of the DVCR.
The ADVCR-I will be the key contact point and leader for Indigenous Research at Curtin, with the responsibility for further developing the Indigenous Research strategy and framework, guiding Curtin to ensure an inclusive approach to research involving Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and that this research is executed appropriately and with cultural sensitivity.
Working closely with senior University leaders, the Centre for Aboriginal Studies (CAS), the Associate Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic Indigenous Engagement, the Deans Indigenous Engagement in each faculty and the Research office to ensure the entire university prioritises Indigenous engagement, experience and outcomes at Curtin University.
The successful candidate will possess a strong academic background with significant research achievements coupled with a proven track record of grant success, strategy development and program experience. It is essential that the incoming ADVCR-I has an established profile in and has made significant contributions to Indigenous engagement and research across the higher education sector. Respectful leadership, negotiation and communication skills will be essential to the success of this role with the ability in influence at a senior level within Indigenous and non-indigenous contexts.
This position provides an opportunity to work in a supportive team at Curtin, walking in two worlds, where reciprocity is highly valued. Engaging with a number of key communities ensuring Aboriginal perspectives, knowledges and ways of being are fostered.
