About the role:
As the Associate Director (Internal Reporting), you will lead a high performing team of analysts, and play a leadership role across King’s, supporting improvements in data literacy at all levels and data informed decision making. The work of the Internal Reporting team extends to the extraction, transformation, modelling, visualisation, analysis, presentation and dissemination of information related to a wide variety of data domains. The work of the team plays an integral part in business-critical operations for multifarious core University functions, and you will be key in having oversight and ensuring the smooth delivery of services in this space.
King’s ambition is to be sector leading in the use of data and analytics to optimise the staff and student experience. The Internal Reporting team is central to the fulfilment of this ambition and works to leverage the value of the institution’s investment in its reporting infrastructure that has been made over recent years.
You will be responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality information in an efficient and sustainable manner to support evidence-based decision-making processes. Towards this end, the role holder is responsible for ensuring the adoption of best practice, high levels of process automation and supporting the continuous development of the analysts within their team and beyond.
This is a full time post (35 Hours per week), though part time arrangements will be considered and you will be offered an indefinite contract.

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
1. Excellent leadership skills and experience in creating supportive positive working environments.
2. Advanced data and analytical skills with experience in innovative thinking, conceiving original solutions and delivering challenging information in a constructive and bipartisan manner.
3. Strong technical background and skills with knowledge of relevant techniques, software (e.g. Power BI, Oracle SQL, SSMS) and programming languages (e.g. SQL, DAX, C#, Python, R).
4. Strong organisational skills, able to contend with competing priorities, manage multiple and complex projects across a team and effectively manage stakeholder expectations.
5. Understanding of data protection legislation in the context of data analysis and reporting.
6. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
7. Commitment to their own personal development and experience of developing others and leading others through change and transformation.
8. Commitment to Equality, Diversity & Inclusion
Desirable criteria
1. Knowledge of the Microsoft Technology Stack (e.g. SSIS, Azure Data Lake, SQL Server, Analysis Services)
2. Knowledge of the Higher Education sector
3. Knowledge of Power BI Tenancy Administration
