Description:

Suffolk University seeks a full time Associate Director, Career Equity & Access & Global Career Development located at 73 Tremont Street, Boston, MA 02108 to support the development and implementation of equity and access initiatives that help to achieve the goals of the Center for Career Equity, Development & Success. Have primary role with community-building for international students with faculty, staff, and employers. Duties include:

  • Utilize knowledge of domestic and international employment landscape and educate the Career Center with information regarding best practices, hiring trends and key insights into the local and international job market
  • In collaboration with the Career Communities within the Center, extend relationships with current employers and other external stakeholders (e.g., alumni and parents) who can support the success of students and cultivate relationships with prospective external stakeholders
  • Develop and coordinate innovative career-related programs strategically devised for the specific needs of international students and domestic students interested in global careers in conjunction with the Career Education team
  • Leverage institutional data to drive decision making about services offered to this population of students and conduct relevant assessments to understand if services and programs are meeting student needs
  • Develop advising structures, mentoring opportunities, and programmatic ways to support students’ career goals towards experiential learning (internships, job shadowing, RAMP (Ram Alumni Mentoring Program), etc.) both for international students and other students interested in global careers
  • Identify and cultivate virtual opportunities for students to interact with employers around the globe
  • Establish and maintain a global network of students, parents, and alumni to help international students connect with opportunities in their home country
  • Work to engage employers, alumni and/or parents in programs and services in conjunction with the Career Communities, and maintain relationships with companies willing to sponsor from resources such as Handshake, MyVisaJobs, GoinGlobal and communicate those opportunities directly to the Career Communities AD
  • Develop and conduct programming related to workplace diversity and inclusion, inclusive hiring practices, with a strong focus on the role of international students/graduates, global perspective and other relevant topics
  • Assist in the coordination of center wide special programs, workshops, career fairs, and other events as needed
  • Build relationships with student groups/clubs especially clubs with multicultural purpose and students from underrepresented communities
  • Work with the operations team to gather data and track outcomes for international students
  • Serve as liaison to the Center for International Programs and Study Away, INTO and associated offices and individuals supporting international students; meets with these stakeholders as needed to enhance student support and services Works closely with operations to share stories of career success from international students, and students involved in global programming
  • Collaborate with operations to create and manage online surveys (Qualtrics), summarize and analyze data and create reports supporting the needs of the Equity and Access team

Position requirements:
Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, or a similar field, plus 3 years of higher education work experience in international student services, including career services, student advising, diversity, equity, and inclusion, and student activities.

Experience, which may be gained concurrently, must include:

  • 3 years of experience providing career advice and program development for international university students and students from underserved communities
  • 3 years of experience advising international students on immigration regulations and policies related to internship and work opportunities (F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, and J-1 AT)
  • 3 years of experience with learning management systems/applications (Canvas, Blackboard, or similar), and online teaching and experience utilizing online tools such as (or similar to) ClickUp and Qualtrics
  • 2 years of experience in international student program development, coordination, and evaluation, working collaboratively both within the department and with external campus partners
  • 1 year of Experience in career services for university students, including employer relations, and providing knowledge of career paths, recruiting practices, and career development tools such as (or similar to) Handshake and GoinGlobal
  • 1 year of experience in instructional design and curriculum development
  • 1 year of experience supervising student employees (undergraduate or graduate)
  • Strong oral and written communication skills and presentation skills, as well as demonstrated thought leadership through conference presentations or creation of curated content for blog posts, podcasts, and/or videos
