ABOUT THE POSITION:

The Career Center strives to engage the Cal State Fullerton (CSUF) student body to actively prepare for their future by providing guidance, sharing resources, connecting with employers and instilling confidence. We facilitate student success in a diverse and competitive global society. We seek an exceptional individual to join our team as the Associate Director, Counseling and Assessment (Administrator II). The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude, an active, energetic mind, and a leadership style that is characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to diversity, openness, flexibility, integrity, and kindness.
Consistent with the University’s educational goals and under the general direction of the Director, the Associate Director of Counseling and Assessment is responsible for managing the Career Development Program, including career counseling, job search workshops, and career program development, and services to support student admission to graduate school. Responsibilities include supervision of the College Career Specialists who support the eight colleges as they conduct major and career exploration, employer outreach, provide counseling and advisement to students, and build partnerships with various colleges, departments, faculty, and employers to ensure student career success. The Associate Director of Counseling and Assessment is also responsible for building partnerships with various colleges, departments, faculty, and employers to assure student career success, elevating the data collection and reporting for all Career Center functions. The Associate Director in conjunction with the Director, and Senior Associate Director of Employer Relations engages in employer and off-campus partnerships to further increase internship, job, and graduate school opportunities to students. This position oversees program, evaluation, and assessment components of the Career Center to further establish learning outcomes, and strategic goals. Works collaboratively with campus partners who are members of the Student Success Teams to further meet university strategic goals and further enhance the integration of students’ academic, career, and personal plans. The position also provides leadership in developing and executing an office-wide effort to respond to the career needs of historically underrepresented students, including those who from economically disadvantaged backgrounds and/or are first generation of their families to attend a college or university. Essential Qualifications
Master’s degree or its equivalent in a related area such as Student Affairs, Counseling, Business, Human Resources, or another curriculum area represented at Cal State Fullerton (CSUF). At least five years related professional experience in a College, University, Business, or Government organization that involved program development, staff supervision, career counseling, diversity initiatives, and/ or operations management related to the responsibilities outlined in this job description. Successful track record in team-oriented production environment. Superior communication, presentation, and negotiation/sales skills. Demonstrated ability to work with diverse employers and students. Able to use standard office software, including spreadsheet and database applications, to generate analytical reports. Creativity in generating solutions in a fast-paced global environment.
A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to complete the background check satisfactorily may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.
Preferred Qualifications
Prefer prior management experience in a College or University career center.
