Description:

Act as primary assistant to the Director and/or Executive Director in all matters relating to program management, including the development of comprehensive activities and services. Assist the Director and/or Executive Director with planning, organizing and budgeting for all activities under the umbrella of the Center. Under the general direction of the Exec. Director, the Associate Director oversees the ongoing procedures and operations of departmental programs, establishing and setting priorities and organizational structure in conjunction with the programs partner academic institutions.
Job Description
5% Establishes, develops and maintains rapport with STEM Center students, faculty and staff; providing ongoing support including, but not limited to assisting students in obtaining academic support, financial support, and providing aid with obtaining assistance for their overall academic success.
This may include assisting students with projects for oral and written presentations at academic conferences as well as securing information from other academic institutions for graduate schools.
Develops, plans, and organizes activities for both STEM Center students including meetings, workshops to assist with academic and career internships and placement activities. Assist students with nonacademic STEM activities – such as professional organizations, clubs, internships.
Plans, organizes, and coordinates, conferences as well as the Annual Research Symposium for students. Secures the conference site; negotiates rates for accommodation, including meeting rooms and hotel rooms; assist in securing conference speakers; securing the assistance of vendors and advertising the conference locally and nationally.
Coordinates and prepares the Annual and Final Reports for various agencies; ensuring that each of the partner institutions submits the appropriate data and information for the narrative in a timely manner.
Prepares and produces statistical reports, analyses, and exhibits for internal and external use and reporting as needed. Assists the Director and/or Exec. Director with grant proposal preparations.
Keeps current on latest software and computer technology, maintain departmental website, develop computer linkage and application process for both the annual research symposium and academic scholars’ program.
The Assoc. Director may also have a supervisory role for other staff members in the department.
Minimum Qualifications
1. Bachelor degree
2. A total of one (1) year (12 months) in education, training and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position. (Note: Master’s Degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.)
3. Based on position requirements, additional education, training, and/or work experience in the area of specialization inherent to the position, may be required.
