Mō te tūranga | About the Role
A fantastic opportunity exists to join our Financial Markets Solutions team at Westpac. As part of the Financial Markets Solutions team, you will be responsible for understanding our customer’s exposures, their situation, and requirements, to provide them with financial markets risk management solutions. You will specifically focus on assisting large borrowers in Corporate, Property Finance and Agribusiness to effectively manage their interest rate risk.
You will work closely with the relationship managers to ensure FM are engaged with all large borrowers and you will educate and inform a range of business partners to ensure they know how to access markets expertise and products. You will also provide customer and execution support for the FM Solutions team, primarily covering the Corporate and Business customer base to ensure a seamless customer experience for all FM solutions customers.

You will be responsible for:

  • Proactively connecting with customers with large core debt to deeply understand their interest rate markets exposures and provide a range of solutions to help these customers manage their risks.
  • Proactively reach out to existing customers with existing IR hedging in place to provide market colour, structure ideas and ensure existing hedging remains fit for their requirements.
  • Conduct regular internal engagement activities such as attending sales meetings and conducting portfolio reviews with Relationship Managers
  • Price, structure and execute interest rate derivatives as well as foreign exchange transactions via phone, email or online channels.
  • Educate and engage with internal business partners to ensure they understand when to refer customers to Financial Markets for advice on interest rate risk management and foreign exchange.
  • Update Interest Rate pricing systems to ensure current rates are published and used internally.
  • Proactively search for opportunities within the portfolio of large borrowers across Corporate and Agribusiness, including contacting customers regularly and maintaining a customer pipeline of upcoming opportunities.
  • Support and educate the financial markets business and solutions team where interest rate risk management is required.
  • Initiatives or projects relating to interest rate solutions or the Financial Markets business.
