Associate Director Loan Product – Institutional Bank
12 month Fixed Term role
Based in Britomart, Auckland
Mō te tūranga | About the role
Reporting to the Director, Head of Loan Product you will manage the debt requirements for Westpac’s Institutional Bank (WIB) corporate and institutional customers, including large listed and privately owned companies, and central and local government agencies, utilising a range of loan products.
You will work with the WIB relationship team to manage the debt requirements of a wide range of customers. This will include:
- Maintaining and cultivating relationships with corporates and local/central government agencies
- Originating, structuring and executing transactions
- Assisting with the preparation of terms sheets and documenting facilities in conjunction with internal and external legal counsel
- Recommending pricing, negotiating terms with customers and their advisors
- Keeping customers abreast of changes in the loan market
You will work closely with the other members of the Loan Products team, Relationship Managers, Credit Analysts and Legal and will have responsibility for the origination and execution of corporate and institutional debt transactions. While you will have product coverage responsibilities across a range of customers, you will also be required to maintain market relationships with debt advisors, legal firms and other market participants.

You must have a strong understanding of all forms of corporate debt and should be close to the market with regards to evolution of structures and pricing implications. While debt capital markets, securitisation, and asset finance products are managed through other specialist teams, you should also have a strong understanding of those products to assist with cross sell opportunities.
You are a gate keeper for WIB Loan Product and are expected to show excellence in everything you do. Essential skills include deep knowledge of the banking & finance industry, strong communication (both written and verbal), credit analytics, legal skills, the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with a diverse range of customers/investors, the ability to manage time effectively, collaboration, and negotiation skills.
You will need to be a self-motivated team player, possessing strong initiative, drive and customer service values with at least 5 years banking experience in a front office, legal, credit analysis or related product role.
