For over 125 years, Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens has been providing quality social services to the neighborhoods of Brooklyn and Queens, and currently offers 160-plus programs and services for children, youth, adults, seniors, and those struggling with mental illness. Our Clinics are community-based which offer a professional and welcoming environment for both clients and staff. The Clinics provide psychotherapeutic and psychopharmacological therapy, as well as individual, group, family therapy, crisis intervention, medication management, case management and collateral sessions. Our staff members follow an approach to health care that emphasizes wellness, recovery, trauma-informed care, and physical-behavioral health integration.

STATEMENT OF THE JOB

Under the direction of the Director of Training the Associate Director will ensure efficient and high-quality delivery of trainings, data collection and evaluation of specific Integrated Health and Wellness (IHW) program training needs. The Associate Director of Training will provide trainings on, but not limited to, initial assessment, individual and group psychotherapy, crisis intervention, Agency, ACS, and the Justice Center incident reporting, case management, intake and referral, as well as clinical trainings, including Evidence Based Practices, and psychoeducational programming to the IHW staff, interns, and other Agency staff.

The Associate Director of Training will assist the Director of Training in the development and implementation of the training programs, with primary emphasis on Evidenced Based Practices. The Associate Director of Training ensures efficient and high-quality delivery which includes chart reviews and CQI and quality assurance activities. The Associate Director of Training is involved with data collection and evaluation of training services, and coordination of the training programs in accordance with NASW, OASAS, OMH, and SAMHSA guidelines. The Associate Director of Training provides administrative and clinical trainings to IHW supervisors. The Associate Director of Training provides administrative consultation and support to all IHW staff involved in the provision of training services (e.g., clinical supervision, didactic seminars, etc.) The Associate Director of Training is a key member of the leadership team who in collaboration with the Director of Training leads the IHW’s training department and participates on a variety of other internal and inter-departmental committees/working groups as assigned.

  • Supports the coaching, supervision, and mentorship of all members of the training and programs team, providing supportive growth and development opportunities.
  • Works closely with internal program evaluators to ensure IHW CCNS programs are consistently meeting evaluation goals, objectives, and benchmarks.
  • Monitors Training and Programs team members’ needs for professional development as it relates to emerging and pressing issues.
  • Provides culturally grounded training programs.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains training policies and procedures, training data analysis and preparation of related reports for program evaluation.
  • Coordinates selection of all trainees, trainee orientation, trainee evaluations.
  • Works with other IHW program administrators to coordinate parallel activities involving trainees.
  • Provides direct administrative and clinical supervision to all IHW staff members and interns.
  • Implements policies and practices to advance an equitable, inclusive work environment and counter racism, sexism, and other forms of institutional bias.
  • Participates in the IHW training program(s), which may include providing clinical supervision, facilitating didactic seminars, being available for clinical consultation to trainees.
  • Provides feedback to other members of the leadership team regarding how their program areas are impacting trainees.
  • Engages in continuing education necessary to maintain state and national credentials and licenses as required by job description and duties.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • New York State Licensed Mental Health Counselor or Licensed Clinical Social Worker
  • Masters in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling
  • Two years of experience in training staff.
  • One-year experience in the provision of clinical training and supervision.
  • 2 years’ experience supervising a team of 4 or more people.
  • Must be highly detail-oriented, possess excellent organization skills, with the ability to prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines.
  • Must be a logical oriented systems-thinker with strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to be a hands-on solutions-focused team player.
  • Experience with facilitation and instructional design.
  • Must be able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, quickly changing environment.
  • Must have a proactive approach to problem-solving with strong decision-making skills.
  • Evidence of outstanding and culturally competent clinical skills and a well-integrated understanding of short-term therapy, crisis intervention, consultation, and outreach/developmental programming.
  • Ability to form strong partnerships with internal and external entities to aid in the provision of a training program.
  • Direct evidence of incorporating cultural competencies and equity practices into training and the implementation of a mental health program.
  • Experience using an electronic health record system and must possess proficient skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, Access, PowerPoint.
  • Experience in data base management, analyses, and reports.
