Description:

The position of Associate Director, Prevention, for a full time position in a hybrid work environment, in Baltimore, Maryland. This position reports to the Director, Community Resilience and is an integral part of the BHSB’s community resilience work, which is responsible for developing and implementing strategies that mitigate the negative effects of toxic stress and trauma, prevent or reduce the severity of behavioral health conditions among children, youth and families, and promote resilience to strengthen overall health and wellness in communities across Baltimore City. The Associate Director, Prevention has responsibility for collaborating with teams and departments across the organization to oversee and implement evidence-based prevention strategies that promote resilience and community well-being. The position manages a portfolio of work focused on building the capacity of community-based organizations that empower youth and young adults to support their own wellness and thrive in their communities in Baltimore City.
The Associate Director leads the day-to-day management and coordination of the prevention strategies including overseeing contracting and programmatic management of services, supervising a team of staff, and relationship building with community stakeholders. The Associate Director supports the collaboration with state and local stakeholders to implement prevention campaigns, programs and other strategies that are aligned with funding requirements, community needs, stakeholder input, and BHSB’s vision and mission.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Bachelor’s degree in social work, human services, public health, or related field.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience working with behavioral health, human/social services, and/or community-based services organization.
  • Minimum of two years’ supervisory experience
  • Knowledge of strategies that mitigate the negative effects of toxic stress and trauma, prevent or reduce the severity of behavioral health conditions among children, youth and families.
  • Knowledge of traditional and contemporary social research practices.
  • Direct experience with stakeholder engagement and/or grassroots organizing.
  • Ability to interact in a virtual environment.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office 365 Suite Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Experience working with diverse stakeholders and constituents (coalition and community members)
  • Skills in collaboration and partnership formation and community organizing.
  • Experience in data collection, resource mapping, focus groups, surveys and key stakeholder interviews.
  • Experience using data to evaluate, monitor and inform program implementation.
  • Skill in developing and maintaining collaborative partnerships.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of implementation science and applied research in prevention programming.
  • Knowledge of SAMHSA, the Maryland Office of Population Health and BHSB
  • Ability to identify tangible and intangible community assets and resources.
  • Knowledge of outcomes-based prevention strategies
  • Knowledge of best practices in prevention program capacity-building and sustainability
    Supervisory Requirements: This position supervises 2 coordinator positions.
    This role may require travel to other locations for meetings and other business-related needs. Ability to travel locally 60% of the time is required. It is important to have access to some form of transportation to travel to off-site meetings, conferences, and site visits.
