Responsibilities:

Construction and Environmental Restoration and Infrastructure Projects and Programs

  • Leads the provision of input into strategic and business planning, forecasting both the short and long term needs and projections of assigned divisional business unit.
  • Develops information workflow, inspection methodology, and program performance metrics and analytics for the assigned divisional business unit.
  • Designs strategies and structure viewing business processes through a lean customer centric lens, adopts appropriate work methods, systems and processes for achieving objectives.
  • Anticipates and mitigates obstacles, risks, and business disruptions caused by change initiatives, cultivating strategies to manage acceptable levels of risk in the short and long term.

Stakeholder Relations and Partnership Development

  • Champions external relationships, working strategically with internal and external stakeholders and utilizing networks to establish and cultivate connections to achieve organizational goals and to explore new opportunities aligned with TRCA’s strategic plan.
  • Cultivates change adaptation, guiding and leading stakeholders and partners in new or adapting circumstances.
  • Purposefully develops networks to build value through collaboration.
  • Builds and/or leads partnership collaborative groups to foster information and knowledge exchange both broadly within TRCA as well as working in concert with the community, advocacy groups and municipal partners.
  • Fosters a culture that supports intra-divisional that allows space for influence to drive action.
  • Develops professional connections with associates or customers, and effectively and appropriately uses the relationships to expand business network or achieve work-related goals.
  • Uses deep understanding of their network to establish and activate connections between people in order to create value and make the organization stronger.

Business Unit Financial Management

  • Prepares annual budget for area of responsibility by participating in the planning process for cross-division/business unit / overall organizational budget process; ensuring financial plans are in alignment with the overall divisional plan.
  • Monitors budget and develops strategies to mitigate any variances to plan.
  • Completes required reporting such as forecasts, current status or cost analyses to support financial reporting and business/operational analysis.
  • Reviews area spend and develops ideas for alternative spending, or, develops business cases for increased spending and expected benefits for future financial planning.
  • Within authority level, approves expenditures, purchases and contracts.
  • Leads a team of staff and ensures that team members understand expectations.
  • Manages employee performance and holds management team accountable for managing employee and team performance.
  • Ensures divisional and individual employee objectives are aligned to divisional and strategic priorities, while continually assessing for quality and output levels and determining future resourcing needs.
  • Engages with the team members to ensure adequate training is provided and tools/resources are supporting workflow and quality output; supports a culture of workplace equity and inclusion that celebrates diversity.
