The Associate Director, Specialist Programmer is accountable for quality, timely and efficient delivery of project programming work and good information management. This position requires profound programming experience and excellent industry knowledge to independently lead implementation of programming activities as well as lead other programmers. It is a leadership role that can have a project or technical focus. It will initiate and lead cross-functional teams for process improvement.
Currently we mainly use SAS, but are expanding into other technologies and languages, to build our innovative tools and utilities supporting Biometrics activities. We’re looking for experience in R and other tools that can ease the process of data analysis and usage of said tools. This position will be looked to drive the business architecture for R and open-source tools for GxP activities.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

• BSc or post graduate qualification (or local equivalent) in Mathematics, Statistics, Informatics, Life or Social Sciences or equivalent experience.
• Experienced in leading efficiencies and improvements in programming utilities and tools.
• Statistical Analysis programming expertise (focus on R, SAS, Python, etc…)
• R package development, validation and life cycle management as well as supporting R infrastructure
• Proficiency in manipulating and analyzing complex data structures, including R data frames and SAS datasets, to drive insightful conclusions.
• Experience transitioning from SAS to a mixed or open-source model
• Excellent Knowledge of Analysis and Reporting within Clinical Development.
• Experience of Data Management within Clinical Development.

• Apply computer science and information technology for the development and maintenance of tools and related processes supporting the analysis and innovation process in CDI.
• Drives the development of best practices to improve quality, efficiency and/or effectiveness within function.
• Demonstrates extensive programming expertise, keeps own knowledge of best practices and new relevant developments up to date.
• Lead/Contribute to evaluation of tools and processes in collecting different data types for delivery of analysis and innovation in CDI.
• Accountable for the design, development and maintenance of single point processes and tools supporting analysis and innovation within CDI.
• Acts as a source of knowledge in area of expertise, defining and communicating important initiatives across department and functions.
• Contributes to the function by supporting recruiting and/or providing training and mentorship.
• Identifies opportunities to improve the methodology and provides practical solutions for problems.
• Represents AstraZeneca and its Biometrics at external events.
• Ensure computer system validation compliance for SASP production tools for audit ready state.
