POSITION DESCRIPTION

Harvard Business School (HBS) MBA Support Services focuses on providing both academic and non-academic support for all students with a goal of ensuring a successful HBS experience. Each team member is responsible for providing academic support, student assessment for well-being, and developing and implementing programming to support the student experience.
This uniquely blended role spends half the time meeting 1:1 with students and the other half collaborating on and leading unique initiatives and projects.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Meet with students, helping them:
  • Tackle the case-based method of teaching and learning, requiring high levels of participation
  • Face classes where they don’t feel prepared, offering them resource and guidance
  • Navigate as first time students in the US
  • Consider balance between classwork, personal life and recruiting and anything else of concern
  • Manage programs related to the holistic support of MBA students:
  • Oversee the development and oversight of wellness programs in collaboration with and in response to student needs throughout the academic year. In addition to proactive wellness programming, also focus on the more specific needs of students who have identified mental health challenges and may benefit from secondary or tertiary prevention, including support and possibly medication consultation and management to increase their well-being.
  • Oversee all aspects of the parent program; counsel students considering having children while in the program, expectant parents, and parent needs for the duration of the MBA experience
  • Work with HBS Operations to provide up to date guidelines for COVID protocols and offer support to students who have COVID to ensure their needs are met
  • Support the team efforts:
  • Answer the help hotline as part of our 24/7 sexual assault response and survivor support rotation.
  • Leverage technology skills to oversee the team’s Quick Base records management platform that tracks important data and helps all members of our team better serve our students
  • Liaise with student organizations focused on academic success and specific demographics

This role is also responsible for other duties as assigned.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience required
  • Minimum of 7 years’ relevant work experience

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • MA/MS in psychology, social work, or related field is strongly preferred
  • Mental Health licensure (LMHC, MSW, LICSW, PH.D.) is strongly preferred
  • Experience working with graduate students and/or adult learners in a higher education setting is strongly preferred
