DESCRIPTION:

As the Associate Director, Systems and Reporting at the University of Toronto’s School of Graduate Studies (SGS), you will be a strategic leader who positively impacts the experience of over 20,000 graduate students, graduate staff and graduate faculty across the University’s three campuses. Reporting to the Director, Student Academic Services, you will be a key member of SGS’ leadership team, responsible for providing advice on systems and business processes that underpin implementation of SGS policies, processes and guidelines.
As the Associate Director, Systems and Reporting you will lead the team that develops and maintains systems critical to the entire graduate student lifecycle. SGS is the sole support for GradApp (Slate), the SGS application and admission system. SGS configures and supports relevant functions within the University’s student information system (ROSI) and uses knowledge of its structures to maintain integrations with additional systems, e.g. customer relationship management (CRM), and curriculum management for all graduate units. In this role, you will play a key role in data analysis and provide information to support institutional decision-making. You will facilitate access to institutional data, direct data collection and analysis, and manage data submission for required reports.
The Associate Director, Systems and Reporting will help shape the graduate student experience by bringing innovative ideas that may improve business processes and service delivery. You will build consensus with various partners to develop and implement technology-based solutions, lead the documentation of functional specifications and test plans, and creation and delivery of training materials and programs. You will manage technical support staff, plan projects and lead teams for day-to-day operations ensuring efficient client services.
As the Associate Director, Systems and Reporting you will provide people leadership, fostering a collaborative working environment for the team of support staff delivering front-line customer support services. You will lead by example to build capacity, support staff and students, and provide leadership in Indigenous, equity, diversity, inclusion, and anti-racism efforts that lead to a greater sense of belonging for all community members.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

A Bachelor’s degree in the field of computer or data science, or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience is required. A graduate degree and experience in graduate education administration and strong knowledge of the University of Toronto policies, governance structure, and organization are assets.
This role requires a candidate with at least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in the field of computer systems, management and systems design. The ideal candidate should have significant experience in working with complex student information systems. They should have advanced technical experience, including researching and recommending institutional systems and experience in institutional systems implementation projects. Demonstrated ability to lead through change, to manage staff in a unionized environment, experience in project management and customer relationship management within a complex environment are required.
