About Us
Springer Nature is one of the world’s largest STM publishers, and a major force in scientific, scholarly, professional and educational publishing. Our publications range across the medical and life sciences, mathematics, engineering and many other fields. Springer Nature has a strong presence in New Zealand with over 20 full time professional journal editors working on the Adis portfolio of journals. Adis (an imprint of Springer Nature) publishes over 30 medical journals and our content is relied upon by a wide range of professionals including those involved in medical and pharmacological research, practice or teaching, drug regulation or reimbursement and those in the pharmaceutical industry.
Our journal editors come from a variety of backgrounds including physicians, other healthcare professionals (such as pharmacists, vets, nurses) and postgraduate researchers. Do you have a passion for knowledge advancement, critical appraisal and the communication of research? Are you perhaps looking for a career change but still want to put your education, and experience training to good use? Or perhaps you no longer want to pursue a career in academia? If so, we may have a role for you!
The Role
We are looking for an Associate Editor to be based in our Auckland North Shore office on a full time, 40 hours per week, basis. This is a unique opportunity to pursue a career in medical publishing and apply your science or healthcare background to ensure healthcare professionals and researchers have the best available research to inform their decision making. We provide a comprehensive training programme to ensure you reach your full potential in the role.
In this role you will contribute to the delivery of quality editorial content for the Adis Journals, ideally in the anti-infectives therapeutic area, in line with customer requirements and our publishing programme needs. You will (i) contribute to content generation by identifying ideas and potential authors for invited review articles, and (ii) manage the editorial process from manuscript assessment, finding peer reviewers, to final decision on invited and submitted copy (including original research) in your therapeutic area. You will be expected to remain up to date with developments in your therapeutic area, and attendance at international conferences may be part of this. You will also provide ad-hoc support for other editorial tasks as assigned across various therapeutic and specialist areas.
We offer a mix of office and home-based working. We pride ourselves on our inclusive culture and as well provide company subsidised medical insurance and enhanced KiwiSaver contributions.
About You

The successful candidate will ideally have:

  • Life/health science degree
  • Relevant post-graduate work experience, preferably in the anti-infectives therapeutic area
  • Proven strong project management and organisational skills
  • Experience in publishing, including editorial processes and production, would be an advantage
  • Proven communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work autonomously or within a team.

How to apply

Please apply with your CV and an introductory cover letter. Your cover letter should include:

  • What interests you about this position
  • The work experience you have had that is relevant to the role
  • The skills or knowledge you would bring to the role.

Applications close 30th June at 11:59pm
