Description:
The Ohio State University seeks qualified candidates for a 9 month, tenure-track faculty position within the Department of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering. The position will concentrate on Research (50%) and Instruction (50%). Tenure faculty (regardless of rank) - persons with the titles of professor, associate professor, assistant professor and instructor who serve on appointments totaling 50% or more service to the university and who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure. Duties and responsibilities are assigned in accordance with the workload guidelines laid out in the pattern of administration of each faculty member’s tenure initiation unit (TIU) and, as appropriate, regional campus; obligations will include research, service and/or teaching or clinical practice. These faculty will have earned doctorate or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study or possession of equivalent experience. The successful candidate will teach courses related to the development of biotechnology. The successful candidate will be expected to establish a nationally and internationally recognized research program supported by extramural funding. The successful candidate will provide leadership in research areas of high priority for the growth of biotechnology beyond medicine, including applications in materials, chemicals, agriculture, sustainability, energy and the environment, as well as innovative new areas for the application of biotechnology.
Candidates should have a demonstrated track record of commercialization and new venture creation, mentoring entrepreneurs and innovators, new venture launches and scaling, and/or building partnerships with investors in the marketplace. This position is partially funded via a recent JobsOhio-Ohio State initiative to increase the number and diversity of STEM graduates.
