What You’ll Be Doing
As a member of the US Business Management group, you’ll provide direct day-to-day support for CIBC’s US Global Markets business. The Business Management team serves as the primary liaison between the Front Office Trading groups and the Sales desks, as well as their internal and external vendors, brokers, suppliers and infrastructure teams. The group supports the US Trade Floor businesses with new initiatives and projects in an effort to drive and sustain profitability. US Business Management also strives to ensure a sound control and governance environment.
As an Associate, you’ll be responsible for supporting the team to resolve day-to-day service or business related issues with a primary focus on coordination of governance and control requirements, while learning the trading products and eventually acting as business manager for a portfolio of products.
You’re flexible to work hours as needed to help deliver a great client experience, which may include evenings and weekends.

How You’ll Succeed

  • Build and maintain working relationships with stakeholders across the different businesses our team supports (Commodities, Equity Derivatives, Fixed Income, Global Credit Finance, Distribution, Treasury, Structuring)
  • Manage an effective and documented internal control structure, by maintaining desk policies and procedures, ensuring Volcker compliance, as well as adherence to, and successful testing of, internal controls and logical access reviews; maintain, support and enhance the information risk policies, standards, guidelines, processes and metrics
  • Assist Business Management team with obtaining information and data responses to internal and external auditor / regulator requests;
  • Partner with Trading desk and the Product Onboarding team to add new products to the various trading desk’s Authorized Product List
  • Partner with Senior Business Managers to assist with new initiatives and projects
  • Be responsive and accessible to the business throughout the day; be proactive in response to information requests and promptly resolve any day-to-day service or business related issues
  • This role collaborates with peers from Business Management Groups across various regions (North America, Europe, APAC) as well as with Capital Markets infrastructure and support groups to identify, support and resolve business issues and needs
  • On a regular and ongoing basis, this position interacts with all functional areas of the firm up to, and including, senior management

Who You Are

  • Highly motivated, self-starter; able to work in a fast paced, results driven environment;
  • 2–5 years of demonstrated experience in Capital Markets as a Business Manager or in some other cross-product discipline (e.g. Finance, Risk, Audit, IT)
  • Excellent organizational skills with a good attention to detail
  • Strong interpersonal, written, verbal and presentation skills
  • Ability to execute tasks under aggressive targets and effectively manage to changes in plan
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft applications (Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Excel, Visio)

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. This role has an expected salary range of USD$110,000 - $130,000 in the New York, NY market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
