Description:

The Watershed Mitigation, Coordination, and Outreach Unit is dedicated supporting state, federal, tribal, and local stakeholders to facilitate the safety of lives and protection of property in the face of diverse geological hazards. These hazards encompass, but are not limited to, post-fire debris flows, mudslides, and landslides. Using cutting-edge remote sensing efforts, proactive planning, strategic coordination, and community outreach, this unit works to advise on or implement effective measures that mitigate the impact of geohazards, ensuring resilience and safeguarding the well-being of communities across the State of California.

Under the direction of the Program Manager I, the AGPA performs complex analytical tasks relating to geohazard operations within the Cal OES Recovery Directorate. As part of the Watershed Mitigation, Coordination, and Outreach Unit, the AGPA provides support for a variety of geohazard response, recovery, preparedness, and mitigation initiatives aimed at increasing resiliency throughout California. Within this capacity, the AGPA undertakes multifaceted responsibilities spanning program analysis, research, planning, and coordination, all geared towards enhancing the unit’s effectiveness in addressing geohazards and promoting community resilience. Duties may include but not limited to the following:

  • Works with a team to provide analyst support for the Unit’s geohazard response, recovery, preparedness, and mitigation activities.
  • Develop and design training programs for local stakeholders, incorporating the latest methodologies in geohazard emergency management adhering to the unique needs and vulnerabilities of individual counties.
  • Responsible for supporting analyst activities for geohazard response, monitoring, and coordination efforts in support of the State Operations Center, task forces, Recovery Support Teams, and other project teams composed of diverse stakeholders.
  • Engage with local communities, conducting outreach and education to enhance awareness and preparedness for potential geohazards.

Working Conditions
This position is located in the Watershed Mitigation , Coordination , and Outreach Unit in Mather.
Telework: This position is eligible for a hybrid work schedule which includes up to two days of remote work per week. Additional in office days may be required based on the business need.
DMV Pull Program: Participation in the DMV Pull Program is required. The position(s) require(s) a valid Driver’s License (DL). You must answer the questions addressing your DL on your application. Ensure you provide your DL number, class, expiration date, and any endorsements and/or restrictions.
