Description:
SIM-RMIT is looking for associates who are dedicated, highly motivated and possess a strong passion for teaching and shaping the minds of the young generation. Candidates will be expected to deliver the course content in a 3-hour lecture format on a weekly basis and manage assessment marking within a given deadline. They will work closely with the course coordinator based in the partner university to achieve the desired students’ outcome.
Appointed lecturers will receive ample opportunities to attend program-specific training in teaching pedagogy, individual domain areas and educational technology, as well as cross-disciplinary and customised professional development activities.
Module: AERO2483 Introduction to Aviation
This Introduction to Aviation course provides an understanding of the principles and practices critical to the aviation industry. These relate to airports, commercial airlines, and the general aviation sector. The course introduces you to the major players that comprise the global air transport system, the types of and major functions of airports, the basic principles of aviation policy, airline marketing and commercial economics, flight planning and flight dispatch, and air cargo management.
Key areas of study:
- Recognise and interpret a range of important practical aspects of the aviation industry.
- Apply basic knowledge of global air transport system structures, key international air laws and policies, and airline commercial operations and their impact on airline economics and finances.
- Evaluate the various factors influencing the global air transport system, the types of and major functions of airports, the basic principles of aviation policy, airline commercial economics, flight planning and flight dispatch, and air cargo management.
- Evaluate the importance of route networks and marketing for airline commercial economics and developing customer loyalty.
- Plan and Manage completing objectives and constraints in the context of the aviation industry
Classes are mostly conducted during weekday evening from 7.00pm to 10.00pm.
Teaching information:
1) To teach the 6 required sessions of a 3-hour lecture for once a week.
2) To set, coach and mark assessments
Job Requirements
- A Master degree or higher in an aviation or related field will be preferred.
- Some industry or academic teaching experience in the aviation or related fields is preferred but not compulsory.
- Has a project management type of background and willing to extend thinking, learning and application into the aviation environment.
- Able to teach evening classes on weekday or day classes on Saturday.
