You will be part of the National Library, Collections (Arts and Gen Ref) team that that engages Singaporeans in discovering and using Singapore and regional content, thereby fostering a sense of national identity and pride. The role will also include developing and delivering timely information products and reference services to meet NLB / NL’s desired outcomes and objectives.
[What you will be working on]
- Handle reference and research enquiries and provide in-depth reference support for queries related subject and language expertise
- Lead the development of the Malay Arts collection by defining requirements to meet users’ needs for print & non-print materials and resources for digitisation and take follow-up actions (e.g. weeding, select materials to fill collection gaps)
- Write and edit articles in professional publications, prepare book summaries, reviews, annotated bibliographies/booklists, research/conference papers related to the area(s) of specialisation
- Lead content development efforts in subject specialisation (documentation and curatorial research) including tracking of key trends and developments.
- Conceptualise relevant programming (talks, workshops, seminars) and/or curate exhibitions (digital and/or physical) related to collection area.
- Plan, conduct and strategise promotion and outreach awareness activities to create greater awareness of the library’s collections, products and services.
- Deliver appointed administrative and/or management duties which includes conducting of library tours and user education sessions as and when assigned.
[What we are looking for]
To be a successful candidate, you will need to:
- 2-5 years of relevant working experience, with background in an Arts related discipline preferred.
- Proficiency in English and Malay, both written and spoken as there will be opportunities to work with Malay language materials for collection and content development as well as research and engagement.
- Required to perform shift work and work during weekends.
- Good project management, organizational, communication and writing skills.
- Good working knowledge of digital content and online platforms
- Strong networking and relationship building skills with a passion for learning and commitment to customer service
- Able to work independently and in teams.
