JOB DESCRIPTION

Having worked in your practice area for a few years, you will now have a proven track record and the confidence of your team. As an Associate, you’ll be involved in supervising junior colleagues, setting high standards of work and driving efficiency. As you develop commerciality and deeper capability, you will be trusted to run your own client matters as well as assisting on larger, complex ones. You will interact frequently with clients, keeping them (and your colleagues) abreast of work progress and managing their cost expectations. An early opportunity to prove that you have what it takes to be a leader in the firm.
We are looking for a passionate, curious and driven Associate to be a part of our Banking team in Singapore. Reporting to the Partners, in this role, you will be drafting and negotiating a wide range of facility documentation across all fields of banking and finance such as leverage buy outs, acquisition financing, syndicated lending and structured trade finance.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Excellent academic credentials
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience
  • Fluency in English, both verbal and written
  • Fluency in one of the Asian languages (Malay, Bahasa) will be an added advantage
  • Experience within a top tier firm would have an added advantage
  • Strong networking and organizational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Responsibilities:

  • Draft and review documentation, demonstrate familiarity with precedents and market standards;
  • Provide sound commercial and legal advice to the client
  • Act for borrowers and lenders
  • Supervise and manage junior lawyers in the team; strong team player
  • Network with clients to capitalize on new business opportunities
  • To succeed in this Associate role, you should be able to contribute to knowhow, communicate assertively when under pressure and be a proactive team player
