ABOUT THE ROLE
As an Associate Platform Engineer at Nominet, you will play a pivotal role in our project team dedicated to building our new platform. Working within cross-functional squads, you will gain hands-on experience with the entire tech stack, actively contributing to the development of the platform. Throughout this process, you will receive guidance and mentorship from Enterprise architects, technical leads, and experienced Platform Engineers.
In addition to platform development, you will provide essential hardware lifecycle and data center hardware support, ensuring the infrastructure’s robustness and reliability. Your mentorship from highly skilled engineers will extend across all sites, encompassing multiple beta and production environments, as you continuously strive to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Responsibilities will also include servicing the platform, including critical tasks such as monitoring and alerting, backups, system support, and proactive maintenance. Leveraging automation and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) practices, you will establish immutable and repeatable practices throughout the platform, promoting efficiency and reducing the risk of errors.
Your dedication to servicing the platform will contribute to creating a highly available service for application stacks, aiming for an impressive 99.995% uptime. Collaborating closely with supporting teams, including Security, SecOps, Dev, DevOps, Database, and Networks, you will ensure a seamless integration of different components and maintain a strong focus on platform reliability and security.
You will have the autonomy and empowerment to deliver exceptional services to our customers while embracing the latest technologies and best practices in the industry, under the guidance of highly skilled engineers, as you contribute to the creation and running of a new best-in-class PaaS solution.
