Description:

Associate Portfolio Manager
The role of the Associate Portfolio Manager is to support Lonsec’s senior portfolio managers with the management and construction of Lonsec’s suite of retail managed account solutions.
This is a permanent Full-Time position based in our Sydney or Melbourne office (hybrid working model).

Position Responsibilities:

  • The key responsibility of the position is to support the management and construction of Lonsec’s suite of retail managed portfolios. This involves a wide range of activities including performance reporting, qualitative & quantitative analysis, conducting research on managed funds & ETFs and client communications.
  • Support the portfolio managers in undertaking qualitative and quantitative research, performing investment due diligence.
  • Develop & prepare investment recommendations that meet team standards. Present investment thesis at portfolio management meetings. Prepare Change reports and Structure review documents for approved trades.
  • Provide quantitative support to the team, including preparing attribution, holdings-based portfolio analysis, ESG analysis and analysis of portfolio risk and performance outcomes.
  • Assist in the preparation of reporting packs to the Lonsec’s various governance and investment committees.
  • Assist in the preparation of client communications including performance reporting, portfolio updates, presentations, and ad hoc client requests.
  • Assist in presenting Lonsec views and portfolio positioning to the sales team, clients and at adviser PD days.
  • Liaise with the in-house sales and research teams to address specific queries and needs.
  • Attend fund manager meeting, market briefings, industry events and client meetings.
  • Assist in Strategic Projects.

Prerequisite Skills and Experience:

  • This role requires an understanding of, and practical experience in fund manager research and multi-manager portfolio management processes.
  • Previous experience (5 yrs.+) working with a research house, stockbroker, fund manager or corporate.
  • A strong and demonstrable understanding of investment markets and asset classes
  • Meticulous attention to detail, strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to think laterally and exercise good judgment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Strong ability to synthesize and collate information, a strong attention to detail is essential
  • Strong organisational and time management skills - working to tight deadlines
  • Strong stakeholder and relationship management skills to enable liaising with external clients with the ability to effectively handle queries and concerns
  • Ability to work as part of a close-knit team as well as autonomously

Essential qualifications:

  • An undergraduate degree in a business or mathematical based discipline (science or engineering) e.g. BComm, BBus, BA, BEc, BSc, BApSci
  • RG146 Accreditation is mandatory
