Description:

Working Part Time - 22.5 hours per week
The post holder will perform basic mammography to a high standard under the supervision of radiographers and clinical leads, and participate in equipment quality control checks.
The Breast Imaging Unit consists of three GE Pristina Mammography machines which can perform 2D, 3D tomographic imaging, x-ray guided biopsies and Contrast Enhanced Spectral Mammography (CESM). There are three Logic 19 ultrasound rooms.
The post holder will be part of the clinical team during diagnostic procedures within the breast screening, symptomatic and surveillance clinics, providing a high level of care, assistance and support to patients who attend.
The post holder will be familiar with the IT and administrative systems used in the department.

Perform mammograms under the direct and indirect supervision of a mammographic radiographer, meeting the standards set out by NHSBSP.
Provide general assistance to the clinical team during diagnostic procedures including mammography, ultrasound and intervention within the breast unit.
Provide a high level of care, assistance and support to patients attending the unit.
Prepare clinical areas safely, disposing of materials correctly and observe infection control procedures.
Undertake equipment quality control and safety checks as defined in the departmental manuals, documenting all test parameters correctly and reporting equipment faults, or test results outside of the limit to the appropriate team member.
Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to ensure patient needs are met.
Participate in administration pathway, including clinic preparation, image processing, preparation of images for reporting and end of reporting process.
Adhere to local department protocols and procedures, following the right results process.
Ensure compliance with the Trust policies and guidelines for self and others.
Competent in using relevant IT systems, imputing patient data safely.
Perform rigorous QA tests set out by the NHSBSP guidelines to ensure optimum equipment conditions are met and image quality is within the strict parameters required.
The Countess of Chester Hospital NHS Foundation Trust provides services to West Cheshire and to Welsh patients covered by Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. The Trust works collaboratively within the wider Cheshire and Merseyside Health and Care Partnership. Its services are provided from three locations:
The Countess of Chester Hospital: providing 438 general and acute beds.
Ellesmere Port Hospital: providing 56 beds as a rehabilitation, intermediate and outpatient facility.
Tarporley War Memorial Hospital: a base for community services which serve the local rural population.
The Trust employs over 6258 staff (headcount) which includes temporary bank staff and provides acute emergency and elective services, primary care direct access services and obstetric services to a population of approximately 407,000. This includes 357,000 residents in Chester and West Cheshire which includes Ellesmere Port and Neston as well as the Deeside area of Flintshire which has a population of approximately 50,000.
The Trust is a busy district general hospital and in 2022/2023, there were more than 503,342 patient attendances (inpatient, outpatient and diagnostic) ranging from a simple outpatient appointment to major cancer surgery. This is an increase of nearly 10,000 compared to the previous year when there were 494,387 patient attendances.
