Description:

A new and exciting opportunity has become available for a Nursing Associate/Associate Practitioner to join our well-established Special School Nursing Service.
We are looking for an outstanding practitioner with experience of working in a school environment or healthcare role with children and young people. Your role will involve assisting and supporting the qualified nurse to provide health support in one of the six special schools that HHFT provides nursing support to. This is an opportunity to work closely with our truly integrated community service and you will work closely with our Community Children’s Nursing Team, colleagues at Firvale- our respite service, as well as our existing special schools and the wider child health multi-disciplinary team.
You will have responsibility for assisting the qualified school nurse in ensuring plans of care are reviewed and maintained, and work with children and families to help achieve maximum independence in health and wellbeing. You will work closely with teachers and classroom assistants in meeting care needs. This busy role requires you to be flexible in a constantly changing environment and to respond to emergency needs as they arise.
Our vision is to provide outstanding care for every patient. Patient care is at the heart of what we do at our three sites: Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital, Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester and Andover War Memorial Hospital. Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust provides medical and surgical services to a population of approximately 600,000 people across Hampshire and parts of West Berkshire.
Our cultural ambition is to have a culture that places people at the heart of all we do, where we all belong, and where learning, improvement and excellence thrive.
We provide specialist services to people across the UK and internationally. We are one of only two centres in the UK treating pseudomyxoma peritonei (a rare form of abdominal cancer) and we are leaders in the field of tertiary liver cancer and colorectal cancer.
The trust employs more than 9,000 staff and has a turnover of over £500 million a year. As a Foundation Trust, we are directly accountable to our members through the governors. The Council of Governors represent the interests of their constituencies and influence the future plans of the Foundation Trust.
In order to be able to deliver the care required to children and young people with a range of health care needs, we will ensure you receive appropriate training with annual skills updates, and have the opportunity to undertake formal training should you wish. The skills required will include nutritional management via gastrostomy, epilepsy care, medicines management, excellence in communication with children with learning disability and a sound understanding of the safeguarding agenda. You will be able to teach others in practice and be an advocate for the child.
Happy to Talk Flexible Working - all requests for flexible and part time working will be considered.
If you are innovative, creative and keen to develop your knowledge and new ways of working then consider this opportunity.
