Description:

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

As an Associate Principal Scientist, you will bring your expertise in multivalent molecular design to the table. Your strong experience in the application of protein, molecular biology and/or biophysical skill sets will be crucial in creating and characterising the next generation of biologics, with a focus on multi-specific molecules and cellular engagers. You will execute experiments efficiently, analyse, interpret, and present data and ideas to a wider audience.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • A Ph.D level scientist with significant post-doctoral experience, or Batchelor’s degree with significant experience in an industry setting
  • Deep understanding of antibody structure-function relationships, leading to innovation in the field, as evidenced by publications and/or patents
  • Experience in protein design, production and characterisation of antibodies, or antibody-like scaffolds, common expression systems (e.g. mammalian) and purification methods (e.g. Akta systems), and the ability to profile constructs (e.g. SPR; biochemical assays)
  • Strong hands-on experience in molecular biology methods and technologies e.g. PCR, RT-PCR, cloning (ligation-dependent and independent methods), site-directed mutagenesis, Sanger sequencing/analysis
  • Ability to optimize protocols, troubleshoot, interpret experimental results/data and maintain accurate, high-quality and up-to-date experimental records
  • Strong communication skills in a team environment and an ability to quickly learn and adopt new technologies
  • Experience leading matrix teams

DESIRABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Background in drug discovery and development in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Experience in silico design and optimisation of proteins
  • Experience in automation
  • Line management
When we put unexpected teams in the same room, we unleash bold thinking with the power to inspire life-changing medicines. In-person working gives us the platform we need to connect, work at pace and challenge perceptions. The role is lab based, with additional office-based activities, and requires you to be present on-site.

Responsibilities:

Are you ready to take a crucial inter-disciplinary approach to deliver life-changing medicines? We are seeking a highly motivated Associate Principal Scientist to help support our Respiratory and Immunology discovery pipeline. Leading from the bench, the role will involve developing and implementing our next-generation modalities in their application to pre-clinical programs.
