Description:

The School of Engineering has seen a period of exceptional growth in research, teaching, and enterprise activities. To support and maintain such growth, we are appointing to an Associate Professor post.
We are looking for a candidate with proven experience and track record in bidding and securing research and enterprise funds, and developing internationally recognised research programs that will expand and complement the school’s research strength. They will also need to show experience in the design, development, and delivery of academic programmes, delivery of external accreditation, and the interaction with industrial and educational partners.

The role holder must be forward thinking with experience in developing, delivering, and assessing high quality material that integrates modern and emerging technologies in the delivery of core topics in Civil Engineering. Ideally, candidates should have expertise in two or more of the following subject areas:

  • Highway and transportation engineering
  • Tunnelling and underground structures
  • Costal engineering
  • Offshore structures

The successful candidate will be given an important role in the management and delivery of teaching and research, and must have a proven ability in managing resources, teams, workloads, and personal development plans. Excellent communication skills and strong commitment to teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels are important skills required in this role. Familiarity with the UK higher education system is essential.
Preference will be given to applicants with a first degree in civil engineering, and PhD in a relevant subject.
The successful candidate will be based at the Medway campus, but may be required to work at the university’s other campuses. More information about the role can be found in the job description.
