The UTS Centre for Quantum Software and Information (QSI) in the School of Computer Science is focused on theoretical research into quantum information science and the software and information processing infrastructure required for future quantum technologies. As quantum information technologies transition from the laboratory to the marketplace, QSI strives to be an inclusive environment that encourages advanced research and the nurturing of talent. QSI’s focus on theory and software places it in a unique position in the vibrant quantum technology community in Sydney and Australia which has resulted in UTS being a founding partner of key initiatives such as the recently announced “Quantum Australia” growth centre, the Sydney Quantum Academy, and the Australian Quantum Software Network. About the role We are recruiting for an Associate Professor or Professor to join the team on a continuing contract in an initially research-focussed position. The role will be research intensive for two years and will revert back to a balanced role thereafter. As the Associate Professor (Level D), you will research and teach cutting edge topics pertaining to quantum computing and information theory related fields. The successful applicant will have an internationally recognised track-record in making ground-breaking contributions to the development of quantum algorithms, quantum complexity theory, quantum information theory, quantum programming, fault-tolerance and/or quantum control. You will also have emerging research leadership capabilities and contribute to the teaching of subjects within the discipline. As the Professor (Level E), you will have a track record of leadership in research, education and industry engagement which will be utilised for significant input into the development of QSI and UTS research and education strategy. You will also mentor and lead a team of researchers to pursue research opportunities in theoretical quantum information science. About you As an Associate Professor or Professor, you will have detailed knowledge of the theory of quantum computation and information science. You are conscientious, have excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated research leadership capabilities. REMUNERATIONBase Salary Range: $175,059 to $191,905 pa (Level D) / $217,675 pa (Level E) This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary. This position is full-time and appointment will be made on a continuing basis.
