OUR OPPORTUNITY

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager or Senior Project Manager to join us as an Associate in Nottingham, to lead our multi-disciplinary sector team on behalf of Government Departments.
You role will be in support of work across the Midlands and Wales, therefore a willingness to travel on occasion, and an understanding of the requirements of the role is essential.
Dependent on your location, you will be able to be based from one of our Midlands offices and embed within our wider PM team. We are happy to consider flexible working arrangements for the right individual.
This role is client focused and process driven, involving leading several parallel projects often from inception through all stages of design and delivery.
You will be client facing, with the ability to lead identification of client needs, and implement project and programme governance, alongside driving all aspects of design management.
You will be representing Pick Everard as the lead point of contact with the client so experience in a similar role, or undertaking similar activities is essential.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • 8+ years industry experience, having worked in a similar role in the design or construction management environment.
  • HNC, HND, a project management, architectural, engineering / construction related degree or related transferrable experience.
  • Eligibility to obtain, or existing possession of SC level Security Clearance is required to fulfil the duties of this role.
  • Member of a construction related professional body, such as RICS, CIOB, CIBSE, etc. is desirable but not mandatory.
  • A comprehensive knowledge of building technology and construction principles.


    • Have a good understanding of forms of building contract and experience of contract administration (NEC/JCT/PPC2000). NEC3/NEC4

    • Accreditation desirable but not mandatory.
    • Ability to control day to day programming and planning across multiple projects.
    • Ability to monitor progress and expenditure of multiple projects.
    • Have a clear understanding of risk management including identification, management, mitigation and risk transfer – at both project and strategic programme level.
    • A good understanding of IT including Microsoft Word, Excel, Teams and Project.
    • Excellent written and spoken English.
    • Presentation skills - comfortable speaking to groups both online and in person.

    Responsibilities:

    • Act as the link between the client’s strategic level brief and delivery of the suite of projects that bring this to realisation.
    • Setting up project teams from the identification of required skills through to formalisation of appointments. This will include ensuring scopes of work align with the project deliverables and covers all client specific and statutory requirements.
    • Agree and develop the client’s brief in conjunction with any other consultants appointed.
    • Gather an understanding of client specific project processes and protocols and put these in motion, in tandem with standard project management practices.
    • Co-ordinate, manage and communicate with the client, project stakeholders and other consultants appointed to meet requirements of the project, preparation of programmes and undertaking programme management.
    • Ensure that design processes across your suite of projects are being co-ordinated by the lead project managers and that the large multi-disciplinary teams are producing outputs that align with both the client brief and statutory agency requirements.
    • Oversee and manage the control of the projects both pre- and post-contract including financial expenditure throughout all RIBA stages.
    • Oversee the initiation and running the change management process.
    • Oversee the management and development of the procurement strategy and procurement activities.
    • Undertake and participate in risk, value and opportunities management, including facilitating workshops in order to ensure that these activities are controlled within the project team including contractors, sub-contractors, and the supply chain.
    • Communicate and chair meetings with the client, their stakeholders, and contractors as necessary.
    • Prepare and issue reports, including but not limited to preparation of Project Execution Plans (PEP), Strategy Reports, Risk Registers, Progress Reports etc.
    • Develop new business opportunities including leading and participating in the preparation and presentation of bids.
