Description:

The Registrar’s Office at The University of Winnipeg is committed to providing a full complement of enrolment services for students and strategic enrolment management activities on program and curriculum planning, misconduct adjudication, internationalization, partnership agreements, and pathways for learners.
The Associate Registrar – Recruitment and Admissions is a full-time continuing position, and part of the Registrar management team. The successful candidate will have particular responsibility for Student Recruitment, Institutional Relations, Domestic and International Admissions, Inbound and Outbound Student Exchange, and PLAR (Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition) and Adult Learner Services.
This position leads and manages a diverse team of staff from departments identified as core to the recruitment and admissions stages in an overall enrolment management process. They will be responsible and accountable for policy input, marketing strategies, personnel and process management, and strategic plan execution, for recruitment and admission of domestic and international undergraduate students, with a shared responsibility for transition and retention.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Undergraduate degree, graduate level training preferred.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in a variety of cultural and educational settings.
  • Experience in contract design and negotiation.
  • Management experience is preferred.
  • Specific experience in national and international student recruitment.
  • Strategic and operational planning experience.
  • Knowledge of strategic enrolment management principles.
  • Must be familiar with Senate regulations and University policy.
  • Familiarity with admissions policies in other institutions, provinces, and countries.
  • Ability to formulate policy and negotiate educational contracts in changing national and international markets.
  • Knowledge of a second language an asset.
  • Knowledge of national & international student recruitment, marketing, travel and retention
  • Completion of the ISIEP (International Students and Immigration Education Program) and certification as an RISIA (Regulated International Student Immigration Advisor) would be an asset.
  • Experience with budget formulation and personnel supervision.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Must be able to assess student interests and goals while being sensitive to their needs and concerns.
  • Must be able to make independent and consistent judgements and decisions.
  • Must be able to represent the University professionally both internally and externally.
  • Must be able to work co-operatively with members of the University community and external stakeholders in post-secondary education.
