Description:

The Canadian Light Source Inc. (CLSI) is a national research facility of the University of Saskatchewan. CLS produces very bright light to explore the nature and structure of molecules, and serves national and international users from academia, industry, and government institutions.
CLSI is now accepting applications for an Associate Scientist (level two) or Scientist (level three) position within our Bio/Life Sciences department on the BioXAS beamline - a group of three independently operating endstations. One dedicated to high-resolution XRF mapping and micro-XANES experiments and other two perfectly fit for X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy in extremely diluted samples. Beamline is suitable for various applications in Bio/Life, Environmental and Material Sciences within its operation range of 5-32 keV.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • For the Associate Scientist level, a relevant undergraduate or Master’s degree is required. For the Scientist level, a relevant Master’s degree or Ph.D. in the natural sciences is required.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy or XRF mapping with a Master’s degree, or a minimum of one to two years related experience with a Ph.D. degree.
  • A minimum of one year experience in supporting users at a synchrotron facility is required.
  • Experience with advanced beamline instrumentation (detectors, cryostats, in-situ cells, etc.) would be considered an asset.
  • Basic programming skills in Python or C/C++ are required.
  • Candidates should demonstrate a clear aptitude for service, teamwork and research, particularly in programs requiring collaboration.
Remuneration: Remuneration will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. A comprehensive benefits package, including supplemental health & dental, life insurance, pension plan, and four weeks’ vacation is part of a competitive compensation package.
    Salary Range: The Salary Range is $63,580 - $86,020 (Associate), $76,755 - $103,845 (Scientist).
To Apply: Submit a cover letter and resume along with references, in confidence, online at www.lightsource.ca/careers. Applications will be accepted until March 17, 2024. While all applicants are thanked for their interest, only short-listed candidates will be contacted.

(CLSI) is an equal opportunities employer and encourages members of designated groups (women, Indigenous people, people with disabilities and visible minorities) to self-identify on their applications. One of our values is Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion and we strive to create a workforce that reflects our users and the community in which we live.
