Purpose
The Staff Accountant is responsible for preparing journal entries, reconciliations, detailed reports, and monthly close activities related to the preparation of financial statements. The candidate is expected to have strong interpersonal and communication (written and verbal) skills.
Pay: 50-60k DOE

Specific Duties, Activities and Responsibilities

  • Heavy reconciliation of balance sheet accounts, including fixed assets
  • Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure
  • Ensure an accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year end close
  • Coordinate and execute all month-end close activities based on the close schedule
  • Ensure the timely reporting of all monthly financial information
  • Assist the Accounting Manager, Controller and CFO in the daily financial requirements
  • Prepare and gather supporting documentation and explanations for monthly financial reporting, budgeting/forecast, and analysis for senior management and follow up on open items
  • Prepare journal entries, reconciliations, work papers, accruals/corrections and variance analysis
  • Assist in preparation of financial statements, budgets, and forecast
  • Analyze operating expenses, including comparisons to budgeted and trend results
  • Respond to inquiries from Senior Management, internal and external auditors, regarding financial results and special reporting request
  • Support Accounting Manager, Controller and CFO with special projects
  • Manage workload and prioritize job tasks in order to meet deadlines
  • Comply with corporate policies and procedures
  • Interface with management in various departments
  • Assist with other duties and special projects as needed.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience
  • Ability to follow direction, execute timely and ensure accuracy
  • Effectively able to manage conflicting priorities and workload pressures
  • Focuses on process improvement
  • Exercises good business judgment
  • Takes ownership and accountability for tasks
  • Aptitude to analyze data and formulate sound conclusions
  • Must have excellent attention to detail, analytical abilities and technical skills in accounting
  • Accurate with numbers and calculations
  • Self-starter
  • Advanced skills in Excel
  • Major Market ERP systems experience
  • MS Dynamics- AX experience is a plus
  • Learns new systems and processes quickly
  • Knowledge of U.S. GAAP
