Responsibilities:

WHAT DOES THE ROLE INVOLVE?

As an Associate Structural Engineer, you’ll assist the Directors in providing leadership, management and technical quality to the team in the area of Civil and Structural Engineering, Consultancy and Reporting. Providing project direction to ensure technical quality, health and safety management, budget control and timely delivery. This will include providing clients with solid technical advice within the limits of the brief and being responsible for the delivery of a high quality service.
There will be some business development via existing and new clients, you’ll act as a Client Relationship Manager, establishing and maintaining a client base and sustainable workload based on agreed targets and use your clients and contacts to generate work for other parts of the business.
Undertaking contract management on all delegated schemes, you’ll liaise with clients and their representatives and attend design and site meetings. You’ll prepare design solutions and manage the preparation of design calculations and drawings in accordance with the relevant design codes as well preparation of the specification, technical information and reports.
Other aspects of the role will include managing the costs and revenues on projects, complying with CDM regulations, keeping abreast of technical developments in the industry and training and mentoring less experienced Engineers.

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU’LL:

  • Be a qualified Civil or Structural Engineer, chartered or near chartered with the institute of Civil Engineers or Institute of Structural Engineers.
  • Have considerable experience in a comparable role with a bias towards development and project management.
  • Have excellent design skills and be able to competently undertake computer based analysis and have knowledge and understanding of UK codes of practice, Design Standards, Building Regulations and Health and Safety.
  • Be market facing, commercially focused and a positive role model.
