Technology plays a crucial role in our ability to deliver best-in-class insurance products. We are looking for an Associate Systems Engineer II to join our Infrastructure Systems team. The Systems team integrates technical operations and infrastructure aspects to support software and hardware that compiles the backbone of our infrastructure.
You will be responsible for supporting and securing the Microsoft Windows operating systems, Microsoft O365, and software. You will utilize various automation tools to eliminate manual tasks and improve optimization and efficiencies by serving on the team as an individual contributor that is capable of supporting assigned hardware and software. You will be expected to help enforce compliance and security, provide recommendations on technology choices, and provide feedback to senior engineers and engineering managers on system status.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • As part of a team, implements various infrastructure projects
  • Develop and maintain solutions for operational administration, system/data backup, disaster recovery, and security/performance monitoring
  • Deploy software, operating systems, and infrastructure hardware
  • Completes documentation based on established guidelines
  • Provides on-call support of assigned solutions and systems
  • Works to automate, monitor, and analyze processes
  • Interprets project requirements and adapts to changing requirements effectively
  • Assumes ownership of all problems assigned; Follows through to resolution consulting others as needed
  • Observes infrastructure principles by more senior engineers on the team
  • Implements industry best practices for system hardening and configuration management
  • Understands the importance of security and works within policies and tools from the security team to ensure compliance. Raises issues to senior engineers during the design phase.
  • Collaborates with the senior engineers and other stakeholders to implement changes and seeks feedback to verify that implemented features are operating as expected.
  • Communicates regularly with engineers on the team to keep others aware of progress. Collaborates with peers as appropriate based on the team expectations.
  • Knows the tools, techniques and processes that are used within the team
  • Develops understanding of and relationship with internal and outsourced infrastructure related hardware and software
  • Contributes to conversations on organizational processes and provides feedback to teammates on what is working and what hinders development.
  • Is able to create a systematic approach to debugging a problem independent of guidance from senior engineers within areas of focus.
  • Is aware of the organization’s monitoring philosophy and the operational data for their team’s domain
  • Collaborates and communicates with internal and outsourced development partners regarding hardware and software design status, project progress, and issue resolution.
  • Understands the utility of the system(s) supported by the team and learns about the users’ pain points through conversations with senior engineers and product managers. Uses this knowledge to make implementation decisions.

What You’ll Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, and 1 years related experience
  • Or 3 years related experience

  • Familiar with computer and network hardware, connectivity, certificates, and authentications methods
