About the Role (Your Why)
The TOC is a strategic and expanding team providing 24x7 support (this role is a shift-based 3 on/3 off work pattern, 7am to 7pm and vice-versa every 3 or so weeks, and including weekends) to ensure our customers get the best possible service every hour of every day. The Associate Systems Engineers role is a varied one. We manage business and out-of-hours requirements for multiple resolver groups within our Platform Engineering business. We perform various tasks across a multitude of customers and a multitude of technologies including Microsoft, Linux, virtualisation, backup, Oracle, SQL and a variety of applications. We function within an ITIL framework and believe in standardisation wherever possible.
Our offices are based in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. We like to bring people together in person when we can, but we are mindful of the benefits of working from home for work/life balance. We therefore leave it to you and the team you join to figure out what works best and this role is very flexible in terms of working from home due to the hours involved. Note that the successful applicant MUST be a current NZ citizen, resident or visa-holder.

What You’ll Do

  • monitor, triage, remediate and manage high priority incidents and events that occur outside of normal business hours. This includes escalation to L3 support teams when appropriate
  • Real-time monitoring of all infrastructure for availability, capacity and performance
  • Monitor backups across our customers and platforms
  • Provide patching services across multiple customers and platforms
  • Provide Batch Processing services to a small number of our customers

What You’ll Bring

To be successful in this role, your technical experience should include:

  • Passion for IT and a drive to continually improve
  • Proven experience IT Support, Networking and Systems Administration or a similar role
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Server technologies (AD, ADFS, GPO, DNS, DHCP functions)
  • Knowledge in Linux Server, SQL, Oracle and backup technologies is definitely beneficial
  • Experience and awareness of ITIL practices
  • Knowledge and awareness of security policies and procedures
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build relationships with different key stakeholders
