Taxation of compensation and benefits (also known as executive compensation) is a fascinating area that draws upon skills from many disciplines. At EY, executive compensation is part of a broad- based service to clients which includes not only tax but also related strategic HR advice.

Responsibilities:

TYPES OF WORK YOU WILL BE DOING

  • Analysing the tax treatment of compensation and deferred income arrangements to ensure that they are compliant with applicable law;
  • Advising on the treatment of compensation arrangements in the context of mergers and acquisitions; and
  • Advising on the tax treatment of cross border pension arrangements and non-resident trusts; and
  • Assisting clients facing audits by the Canada Revenue Agency and provincial ministries of finance.

TO QUALIFY FOR THE ROLE YOU MUST HAVE

  • An LL.B, JD or equivalent;

  • Minimum of 1 year post call experience in either taxation law, employment law, or pensions/benefits combined with an interest to specialize in taxation of compensation and benefits;

  • Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to apply these skills to a new environment and new projects;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
