Job Advert
Compton Care is a charity based in Wolverhampton and surrounding areas offering support to individuals who are living with incurable health conditions. Our specialist in-patient palliative care services are a centre of excellence. Either as an in-patient or within their own home, patients, their families, or carers can access services free of charge to obtain support from Compton at a critical time in their lives.
We are currently looking to add Associate Trustees to our team who would be committed to supporting Compton in making a difference. We are keen to engage with aspirational individuals looking to make their first move into the ‘non-exec’ arena, and who could bring skills and passion to support the provision of accessible, innovative, influential care that creates excellent experiences for people in our community.
The Role of the Associate Trustee
We are looking for talented people to join our team as Associate Trustees. This role is less demanding than that of a full Trustee both in terms of time and responsibility.
The Associate role can be for some, a development opportunity providing a ‘non executive’ type taster experience.
The Associate role can lead in time into a Trustee role; it allows prospective Trustees to gain a better understanding of hospice and healthcare governance and to get a tailored experience.
We are currently looking for Associate Trustees who are qualified Accountants or experienced HR professionals.
The Person
We operate and support communities that are diverse and therefore warmly welcome people who are from minority backgrounds or diverse communities. If you will have a willingness and ability to devote the necessary time and effort, an understanding of the importance and purpose of Committee and a strong interest in Compton Care we would want to hear from you.
Skills & Traits
You will:
- Be a strategic thinker, and able to think creatively and analytically
- Actively support and promote equality and inclusion goals
- Be able to work effectively as a member of a team, and to take and support collective decision-making
- Have a strong personal commitment to the success of Compton Care
- Have an ability to assist in determining the overall direction and development of Compton Care through strategic planning and good governance
- Be a confident individual with effective communication and influencing skills
- Act as an enthusiastic ambassador for Compton Care at external events
- Commit to Nolan’s Seven Principles of Public Life
- Be a qualified Accountant or an experienced HR professional.
Tenure
Associate Trustees are elected for terms of three years at a time. Our Board Associate Trustees roles are voluntary and therefore unpaid, although we support reasonable expenses.
