About this role
Business Unit Overview:
BlackRock Capital Markets (BCM) is a single center of excellence across public and private market sourcing for the firm and co-investment and financing for our alternatives business. It is a holistic, comprehensive investment platform that provides solutions across the capital stack. BCM helps to deploy public and private capital in active portfolios within Equity Private Markets (EPM) and Portfolio Management Group (PMG).
Role Overview:
BlackRock is seeking an experienced business manager at Associate/Vice President level to join the Chief Operating Officer (COO) team for BlackRock Capital Markets. The business manager, based in London, will be primarily responsible for supporting the global operating framework for BCM, including on areas related to risk, legal & compliance, audit, technology, market data, recruitment and finance. The business manager will report to the Global COO for BCM.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the implementation of strategic initiatives for BCM.
  • Support communication framework of key cascades from the BCM Executive Committee
  • Maintain the general operating framework for BCM including its Operating Handbook, complete regular certifications, conduct reviews of Aladdin permissions, perform regular folder clean-ups, guide quarterly reviews of corporate access via use of CorpAxe, support onboarding of new joiners, quarterly voice recording reconciliations, etc
  • Liaise with L&C where appropriate e.g. resolving Core Compliance queries/issues, coordinating regular MNPI training, responding to novel issues/questions, taking responsibility for appropriate attestations, etc.
  • Be the first point of contact for global operating events and help to manage the outcomes, with support from the BCM COO.
  • When applicable, respond to internal audits and execute their remediation plans
  • Drive technological developments as demanded by the business e.g for applications such as eFront, and internal applications linked to Aladdin.
  • Lead the coordination of all campus recruitment initiatives for BCM
  • Review market data requirements and their associated costs to ensure we operate within budget
  • Regularly review Travel & Expenses management information and provide challenge where necessary.
  • Lead the Enterprise Services implementation for the BCM group e.g. seating, desktop tech set-ups, dissemination of information for new tech application roll-outs, etc
  • Own and regularly review and refresh the business continuity plans for the group
  • Collaborate with the BCM Graduate Analyst cohort on recurring projects and reporting for the BCM platform including review of BCM Overview Materials, BCM Marketing Materials, Investment Performance Focus reviews, etc.
  • Provide project support to the BCM platform as the role evolves.

Qualifications and requirements:

  • 5+ years’ previous work experience in the financial services industry
  • Keen interest in developing knowledge of Capital Markets and the day-to-day functions of each of the teams
  • Ability to think through problems, ask intelligent questions and work towards solutions whilst seeking help at the appropriate time.
  • Multi-tasking in a time sensitive, fast paced environment; solid attention to detail.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills (including preparation of presentations)
  • Ability to interact with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Self-starter with a curious mindset who can work effectively with a team and within a larger organization
  • Keen to diplomatically problem-solve especially with novel situations
  • Discretion when dealing with sensitive information and ability to form judgements on appropriateness of information sharing and dissemination.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint), some knowledge of coding languages is helpful, as well as willingness to learn how to use new applications on Aladdin or otherwise.
