REQUIREMENTS OF POSITION:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field, with a master’s degree and/or SPHR or SHRM-SCP certification preferred. At least 7-10 years of progressively responsible experience in HR management, preferably in higher education. Experience working in a collective bargaining environment is highly desired. Critical thinking skills with excellent supervisory planning and communication skills along with demonstrated success in the management of human resources in a large and complex organization. Proven track record of successful collaboration and consultation in operational performance and interpersonal skills. Demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment.

Hiring Range: $15,417 - $17,084 per month

Responsibilities:

Serves as the university’s senior Human Resources administrator by providing leadership and direction in all aspects of HR and Title IX, including strategic planning and customer focused programs. Oversees the development and implementation of programs, policies, and procedures related to the following services: employment services, classification and compensation, recruitment, labor relations resolution, grievances, unfair labor practices, and campus bargaining, employment practices and dispute resolution, whistleblower complaints, workers compensation and disability leave programs, employee benefits, professional development, payroll, and HR information systems. Maintains extensive knowledge of and assures department compliance with all applicable legal requirements. Interacts and communicates with regulatory agencies as needed. Stays apprised of changing regulations to incorporate these into internal processes and procedures. Proactively provides or directly counsels managers, supervisors, and administrators on various employment issues. Acts as a change agent and seeks buy-in from stakeholders for related initiatives. Directs staff training and development efforts to improve competencies and ensure linkage between training programs and strategic priorities. Develops and plans leader development initiatives with senior leadership team. Provides expertise to legal counsel to define direction for employment and other HR related cases. Serves as the HR campus liaison with the Chancellor’s Office. Takes an active role in helping to embed the values of diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of university work, in every division, and participates at least once annually in professional and/or leadership development opportunities that will contribute to campus efforts to advance racial and social justice in and through education at CSUCI and beyond. Performs other duties as assigned by the President.
