FACULTY JOB DESCRIPTION

The Wilmot Cancer Institute (WCI) at the University of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester, NY is currently recruiting early and mid-career tenure-track faculty as part of a major expansion of its basic and translational science research base. Scientists making use of genomic/epigenomic approaches, bioinformatics, tumor model systems and/or human specimens to study tumor plasticity, evolution and metastasis, cancer cell metabolism, cancer microenvironment/immunology or the interface of aging and cancer are particularly encouraged to apply. Successful candidates will join a highly interactive, growing multidisciplinary research community. The Wilmot Cancer Institute is the hub of cancer research at the University of Rochester, attracting more than $30M in cancer-directed funding annually. The Wilmot Cancer Institute and UR Medicine are the major providers of comprehensive, multidisciplinary cancer care in central New York State and the Finger Lakes region, with >6000 new patients every year. Wilmot’s core Research Programs include: ‘Genetics, Epigenetics and Metabolism’, ‘Cancer Microenvironment’ and ‘Cancer Prevention and Control’ and the center boasts an extensive clinical trials program providing opportunity for innovative translational research. New faculty will benefit from vibrant graduate/professional training programs and state of the art infrastructure and core facilities, as well as a strong Institutional commitment to career development. Candidates should hold a PhD and/or MD degree and have a demonstrated track-record of research accomplishment in an area relevant to cancer biology.
The successful candidate will hold a primary faculty appointment with the department and rank to be commensurate with area of expertise and experience.
