Job Description
The Athletics and Activities Department at Frankfurt International School is looking for an engaged and qualified Athletic Trainer (83%) effective 1 August 2024.
The Athletic Trainer is responsible for the prevention, emergency care, treatment, evaluation, management and rehabilitation of injuries to student-athletes and apply exercise prescription, taping, bracing, techniques and other modalities as indicated.
General working times are Monday through Thursday 12:00 - 19:00, approximately 30 weekends/school year Friday 12:00 - 20:00, Saturday 8:00 - 13:00 and occasional weekend travel with a team. Hours may be flexible based on needs of students, faculty and interface with sport science classes. School vacations are work-free.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor´s degree or higher in health-related field
  • Current Certification in Athletic Trainer/Sport Physiotherapist (i.e. NATA, BASRaT, ARTI, CATA, or similar)
  • Minimum two years of experience working with athletes as an athletic trainer or similar position in secondary school setting preferred
  • Demonstrate knowledge of current health and safety best practices (including current First Aid & CPR certification)
  • Proven commitment to safeguarding and welfare of children
  • Demonstrated technological proficiency (i.e. Google Suite & Microsoft Office

Responsibilities:

  • Educate and lead FIS student-athletes, coaches and teams in injury reduction measures
  • Medical coverage of practices, home sporting events, sports tournaments and occasional travel to away competitions
  • Assessment and treatment of athletic injuries including rehabilitation
  • Ensure appropriate and adequate follow-up of injuries and that injured athletes are returning to sport, ‘ready to play’
  • Communicate regularly with the key parties involved in each case and serve as liaison between coaching staff, student-athletes and parents/guardians
  • Liaise with the school nurses and the wider medical community to ensure specialist care and follow up in cases that require extra care
  • Maintain accurate records of injuries, treatments, progress and outcomes
  • Regular education of student-athletes, coaches, faculty and the FIS athletic community on topics related to injury prevention and athletic performance
  • Maintain regular medical room hours for appointments or general consultations in diagnosis, treatment and management of athletic injuries
  • Assist in the testing of athletes and in the development and implementation of an FIS Athletic Strength & Conditioning structure
  • Maintain medical room facilities including supplies and equipment. Organize and track consumables and equipment during the year
  • Conduct concussion baseline testing with teams identified as high or medium risk
  • Update and implement changes to the FIS Concussion Protocol in line with emerging research and recommendations from governing bodies in sport
  • Support faculty returning from medical procedures if requested
  • Train and provide professional development for coaches (i.e. taping and team training)
