Description:

We have a fantastic opportunity for an Attendance Administrator to join our busy 14-16 Alternative Provision.
Our Attendance Administrators manage the day-to-day administration of attendance and punctuality and use systems to improve on baseline figures as set by the provision, to work collaboratively with school attendance administrators to report, record and improve attendance of children accessing the provision
This is a term time role, working 37 hours per week, 40 weeks per year.

EDUCATION & TRAINING

  • GCSE 4 – 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in Maths or be prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale
  • GCSE 4 - 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in English or be prepared to pass a test before the interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescale

EXPERIENCE

  • Proven experience working with parents/carers of young people (ideally secondary school age)
  • Experience working with databases and management information systems. (SIMS is an advantage).
  • Customer service experience/Experience in dealing with the public.

Responsibilities:

  • To promote and safeguard the welfare of children & young people
  • To be responsible for the administration and reporting of students late/absent to college, recording lateness and absence data on the school MIS system and reporting daily to the home school.
  • Check that electronic registers have been entered and follow up on missing registers with individual members of staff
  • Check student absence and follow up using agreed systems, check on children at risk of truanting, and initiate and carry out periodic truancy checks.
  • Be available to staff and parents for meetings about individual students, and provide regular updates and data as requested, including home visits.
  • Liaise with key staff and other support services to improve attendance rates
  • Work with new staff to ensure that school systems of registration are adhered to and participate in the development and implementation of school reward systems in relation to attendance.
  • Ensure that registration systems are developed and correctly administered and report on the quality of the registers.
  • Make contact with feeder schools during the referral period and gain any relevant information about student attendance.
  • Produce and interpret statistical data relating to attendance patterns of groups within the provision (e.g. for parents’ evening, performance management reviews etc)
