Role Purpose
We are seeking an Audio Producer to work on our sports audio content and play a key role in the creation of a new daily sports podcast.
The successful candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality and engaging audio content that captivates our audience and sets our podcast apart in the competitive sports media landscape.
This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of our current podcast slate (The Indo Daily, Crime World, The Left Wing, The Throw-In) while being a part of a dynamic and collaborative media environment. The producer will be working closely with the Senior Sports Audio Producer, journalists and editors across Mediahuis Ireland in a busy, deadline-driven environment bringing top-quality content to listeners.

Role Responsibilities (Overview)

  • Take ownership and build podcast listenership by developing audio strategy.
  • Oversee output; from pre-production, research to recording, editing, and publishing.
  • Develop creative and innovative ideas for segments, interviews, and features to keep the content fresh, exciting, and in line with audience preferences.
  • Bring to life high-quality coverage across breaking sports news, live event coverage and informative analysis.
  • Be a confident, engaging and authoritative on-air contributor and cover presenter.
  • Identify and secure the best contributors.
  • Write creative and concise briefs and running orders.
  • Write short, punchy, and conversational scripts for presenters.
  • Develop strong relationships with presenters and regular contributors.
  • Give constructive feedback to presenters and guests.
  • Collaborate with hosts, guests, and other team members to ensure seamless production workflows, brainstorm ideas, provide input, and contribute to the overall creative direction of the podcast.
  • Proactively seek opportunities to engage with the audience through social media, and other platforms to build a loyal listener base.
  • Work closely with sound designers, give clear feedback and direction in post-production.
  • Manage studio bookings and recordings both in studio and on location.
  • Other duties as required.
  • Note: This role requires flexibility in working hours to accommodate the demands of a daily podcast production schedule

Experience & Qualifications (Minimum Experience & Essential Knowledge)

  • At least 3 years’ podcast or radio production experience, preferably within sports media.
  • 3rd level media/journalist qualification desirable.
  • A portfolio or reel highlighting previous work in audio production.

  • Extensive working knowledge of libel law and relevant legislation.
  • Comprehensive sports knowledge and an interest in women’s sports
  • Editing skills (Adobe Audition and/or Protools) and experience of other relevant software (cms and transcription).
  • Data literate comfortable analysing with all podcast platform metrics.
