Description:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Audiologist in Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. BHFT provides Audiology services across Slough, Maidenhead, Bracknell and Windsor. We are a young and vibrant team and are looking for a motivated audiologist to join us in this development role where further training in specialist clinics will be encouraged and supported.
We are passionate about providing outstanding and joined up care for our service users and their families and are always looking at ways to develop and improve the service. We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual with strong communication, organisational and IT skills who is able to work autonomously and to effectively prioritise their workload in accordance to both local and national guidelines.
This post is for a full time (37.5 hrs/week) and permanent position. The base for this post will be King Edward Hospital and the applicant may be required to cover clinics in other sites. You should have a BSc in Audiology or equivalent and will be registered with the Registration Council for Clinical Physiologists or Health and Care Professions Council. You should have experience in adult diagnostic and rehabilitative care. Graduates will be considered for this role.

Work unsupervised whilst performing all standard hearing tests for both adults and children ( >3 years of age) following professional standards and protocols.
Assist senior Audiologists in performing advanced audiological procedures.
Take detailed medical and audiological histories, interpret test results, identify red flags and where needed to onwards refer to appropriate stakeholders Explain these to patients, relatives and carers in an appropriate, empathetic manner, being sensitive to the complex communication difficulties of patients who are Deaf or hard of hearing. Advise the adult patient on audiological management options and agree a treatment plan with them.
Perform physical examination of the ear and inspection of the ear canal and eardrum using an otoscope. Recognise referable ear conditions using clinical judgement and procedural guidelines.

Responsibilities:

BSc in Healthcare Science - Audiology / HCCC in Audiology
Prior to 2006, basic qualification in Medical Physics and Physiological Measurements (or equivalent) and successfully completed both parts of BAAT I and II and/or HTEC in MPPM
Possess RCCP registration and hold an up to date CPD portfolio
Demonstrated during or post-qualification experience working autonomously in both adult and some paediatric testing in both diagnostic and rehabilitative areas.
Have knowledge of all standard and advanced test procedures. Knowledge and understanding of professional policies and procedures.
Have completed appropriate record of clinical competence.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills particularly with the hard of hearing and deaf.
Possess good computer and database skills
Possess fine manual dexterity.
Excellent written communication skills
Have flexible approach to working hours

Willingness to undertake further professional training.
