Job Title: Authenticating Wetland Professional / Biologist (AWP)

Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Authenticating Wetland Biologist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in assessing, documenting, and preserving wetland areas through meticulous fieldwork and scientific analysis. As an Authenticating Wetland Biologist, you will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and contribute to the protection of fragile wetland ecosystems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive wetland delineation and assessment in accordance with local and federal regulations.
  • Identify wetland flora and fauna species, including rare and endangered species, using established scientific methodologies.
  • Perform wetland functional assessments to evaluate ecosystem health and integrity.
  • Collaboration with project managers and senior team mates of in procuring detailed reports, maps, and documentation to support regulatory permitting processes, assessment reports, and the management of plans.
  • Collaborate with project managers, environmental scientists, and regulatory agencies to develop effective wetland mitigation and restoration plans.
  • Provide expert testimony and technical support during regulatory hearings and legal proceedings.
  • Stay abreast of current research, trends, and best practices in wetland science and ecology.
  • Contribute and build upon professional and technical expertise for projects
  • Be accountable for assigned tasks
  • Promote H3M’s initiatives while completing various environmental assessments and associated reporting in accordance with the needs of our clientele
  • Complete field work and assessments as required
  • Complete data entry
  • Assure quality and accuracy of technical content
  • Ensure conformance to regulatory requirements and project scope
  • Understand performance and quality expectations of each project and work with the PM and Sr teammates to meet and/or exceed them
  • Receive technical training and mentorship aligned to H3M core values
  • Adhere to current business processes and follows industry guidelines and best management practices
  • Contributes lessons-learned from projects and current process to build upon continued improvement
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships
  • Represent H3Ms brand and deliver service consistent with H3Ms quality standards
  • Play a role in continued growth and portfolio diversification

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Biology, Ecology, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience in wetland delineation, assessment, and restoration.
  • Strong understanding of wetland regulations, including Clean Water Act (CWA) requirements and jurisdictional delineation protocols.
  • Proficiency in identifying wetland plant species and conducting wetland functional assessments.
  • Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software and other relevant mapping tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently in remote field locations and adverse weather conditions.
  • Certification as a Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) or equivalent credential preferred.
